Una Calavera para Tim

During last night's wonderful ¡Viva Milagro! dinner for Día de los Muertos, a few lucky folks were honored with calaveras written especially for them. What is a calavera? Well, in Spanish, the word calavera means, literally, "skull" but also refers to festive verses written for the Day of the Dead intended to poke fun at the living. Here's one that board member Stephanie Oliver presented to Miracle's Marketing Director Tim Krause ...

CALAVERA
Tim Krause
Tim Krause is dead: He fell from a chair
Or was it a ladder – it’s hard to be sure.
In either case, he hit his head.
Tim was adjusting a picture or maybe a light.
That was just like him: everything had to be right.
Now Olga is weeping. José wrings his hands.
Susie moves into overdrive.
Tim was the “man” — what´s a play if no one comes
He sold tickets, ushered patrons, made Miracle’s website thrive.
But now the witches have him
Tim´s a pitch man for the other side
He can teach them a thing or two
He’ll make death a point of pride
He’ll add dazzle to their clatter
Oh, Tim: Your loss we’ll surely rue.
