Play in Progress: "B'aktun 13" Update from Dañel
B’aktun 13 rewrites – after the first reading last weekend I had lots of time to reflect about the needed changes as I drove for four hours to Port Angeles to do a performance of Duende de Lorca. That was a long sentence because that is how life is right now: Take a big gasp of air and then run with it. Although Teatro Milagro has been really busy with shows, workshops and the rewrite, we're never too busy to see old friends. Melissa Weckhorst, who helped with the writing of the "Journeys" curriculum, came to visit from Anchorage, Alaska, where she is an arts administrator at the Anchorage Performing Arts Center. So stepping away from Mayan land, the end of the world, life with Federico García Lorca and preparing for Day of the Dead, sometimes it is possible to also stop and smell the roses, or take a look at the sea and enjoy her for the beautiful power she represents.
