Our Zócalo will be filled with activity giving way to an afternoon filled with traditional Mayan dances by both Grupo Jaranero Lol-beh and Raíces Unidas as well as a delectable selection of bilingual works by Los Porteños who will be leading an open-mic reading. In addition, Teatro Milagro is pleased to partner with a number of local community organizations including City Repair’s Village Building Convergence, VOZ, Union Verde, PCASC-Immigrant Rights Committee, Mother Earth School, NWIYA, Hacienda and local environmental activists who will be on-hand to speak about the countless possibilities available for transformational work and collaboration between our communities here in Portland. Several demonstration and crafts stations will be available to participants and local Latin American artisans will sell their goods. Finally, Powell’s Books will be providing a selection of books on Mayan culture, community environmentalism and immigration that will also be available for purchase, a portion of which will benefit Teatro Milagro.
Now on its fourth installment, Teatro Milagro’s community resource fair has something for everyone. We invite you to come learn, share, and create in this once a year family oriented FREE event!
