Meet the cast of "Boleros for the Disenchanted"
The playbills for Boleros for the Disenchanted are almost ready to go to print, and so we thought this would be a good time to offer you a glimpse to just who's who in this production ...
Nicole Virginia Accuardi (Petra/Monica) as been dying to work on a José Rivera piece, and couldn’t have asked for a more perfect theatre and team to work on her dream with. Past Portland shows include Canta y no llores and How the García Girls Lost their Accents at Miracle, Boeing Boeing at Lakewood, The Ladies Man at Clackamas Rep and Trojan Women at Classic Greek Theatre of Oregon. She studied acting at PCPA and Point Park University, where she got her BFA, and has recently graduated from the MAT program at Concordia University, where she became certified to teach Junior High and High School Drama. She would like to dedicate this performance “to the adolescent who fell in love with the smell of opening night flowers”. (José Rivera, USC Commencement Speech)
Kylie Clarke Johnson (Flora/Eve) is delighted to return to Miracle for Boleros for the Disenchanted. She is excited to tell this beautiful story of love and dreams. Kylie is a graduate of Western Oregon University. She was seen last season at Milagro in the world premiere of Boomcracklefly. Some of her favorite performances include: Louise in Gypsy, Christa in Gracie and the Atom (world premiere), Anita in West Side Story. Creator of “Sparkle Friday,” she dons something that glitters weekly. Kylie is extraordinarily blessed with wonderful friends and family, whom she thanks for their generosity and boundless support.
CarlosAlexis Cruz (Manuelo/Priest/Oskar) has been working as a professional actor for the past nine years performing in Puerto Rico, California and Portland, and touring shows from New York City to Los Angeles, from the Dominican Republic to Mexico. Locally he has performed with Do Jump!, Imago and Milagro. He directed Miracle’s touring production of El Último and recently staged the show A Suicide Note from a Cockroach… at Imago, marking the debut of his own new theatre company Pelú Theatre. CarlosAlexis was seen on Miracle’s stage in of Lazarillo, which he also directed. He has an MFA degree in Ensemble Based Physical Theatre from the Dell’Arte International School, a BA degree in film studies from the School of Communication at the University of Puerto Rico, and has trained in Circus Arts at San Francisco Circus Center. CarlosAlexis’ performance in this production is made possible by an award from the Princess Grace Foundation.
Logan Loughmiller (Eusebio/Priest) is making his debut performance with Miracle and he is happy to be working with such a talented group of people. Last year, Logan had a featured role as a Geier creature in the NBC television show Grimm and performed the role of the young Kenneth Kurtman in Then and Now by Cannes Film Festival nominee Dream Reality Films’. He also performed in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at Portland Center Stage and played the role of Tony in the Anonymous Theatre production of You Can’t Take it With You.
Ted Schulz (Don Fermin/Old Eusebio) is very pleased to be back at Milagro where he was seen in El Paso Blues. Ted was last seen onstage in the extension of Ma Rainy’s Black Bottom at Portland Playhouse. He has also appeared at Artist Rep in Sideman, Death of a Salesman (Drammy Award), Take Me Out, The Seagull,Theatre District,Three Sisters and All My Sons.Ted has worked with Theatre Vertigo in Freedomland, Popcorn and The Grey Zone (Drammy Award). Other work includes Sowelo Theatre, Profile Theatre, Lakewood Theatre, Pilot Light and others. In the “old days” Ted was at Storefront Theatre Co. in Fifth Of July, Short Eyes, The Unseen Hand, Bloodknot and Holy Ghosts (Drammy Award). He has also worked in Chicago and New York. He spent two years working Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s The Grapes of Wrath in Chicago, La Jolla Playhouse, the National Theatre London and on Broadway.
Luisa Sermol (Doña Milla/Old Flora) was enchanted by this play when she did the reading for Miracle’s La Luna Festival 2 years ago. This is her first Miracle production. Favorite Portland credits include Three Sisters,The Goat, Master Class, Night of the Iguana and Sideman (Drammy award-Lead actress) for Artists Repertory Theatre, Heather Raffo’s 9 Parts of Desire (Drammy award-Lead actress) and Moon for the Misbegotten for CoHo, Midsummer Night’s Dream for Portland Center Stage and Withering Looks, Vitriol and Violets and Bloody Poetry (Drammy award -Lead actress) for Cygnet Productions. Luisa has also performed in New York/Regionally with The Roundabout, Classic Stage Company, Colonial Theater, Williamstown Theater Festival, as well as numerous Off-Off Broadway productions. She holds a B.A. from Portland State University, a MAT from Lewis & Clark College and a Conservatory degree in acting from the Juilliard School. A special thanks to her parents for loving and caring for each other for so many years. You are a testament to the journey of marriage.
