El mundo de familia y el jardín están tomando forma.

¿Qué pasa cuando la familia se reúne? Hay cariño, risas, pleitos, observamos cosas que no pensábamos o habíamos visto antes, damos consejos. De la misma manera, cuando actores, diseñadores, asesores se reúnen, ven cosas que no habían percibido, hablan de sus preferencias, dan recomendaciones , se apasionan y contrarían también. .. casi como una familia. Así es la familia del teatro. El sábado pasado tuvimos el placer de presentar a los diseñadores una corrida de la primera sección de la obra. Escenógrafa, asistente de dirección, vestuarista, diseñador de sonido, utilería, directora artística, casi todo el grupo se reunió para compartir sus impresiones. Corrimos bien, y aunque estamos en las primeras semanas de ensayo y estamos trabajando el texto día con día, los actores han tenido la capacidad de memorizar sus líneas casi por completo, recordar su trazo… en verdad que están haciendo un excelente trabajo. 

En este momento, la mayoría de las grandes decisiones están hechas, tenemos un concepto de escenografía aceptado, las máscaras (¡sí, habrá máscaras!), el vestuario,  el sonido, la utilería están en elaboración. Es muy emocionante. El mundo de familia y el jardín están tomando forma. La historia se va formando y los actores empiezan a sentir que son parte de algo más grande que ellos mismos. Es aquí cuando se empieza a cuajar el proyecto y empezamos  todos a ver en la misma dirección. Los personajes en sí, empiezan a tener su identidad y viven el sueño de existir. Así que la creación está en marcha. Y yo, como iniciadora no tengo más que darle la vida más abundante que pueda tener, guiarla hasta alcanzar su máximo posible. Veremos cómo va. Hasta ahora no puedo quejarme… me encanta ver cómo se va formando.

What happens when a family gets together? There’s affection, laughs, fights … we observe things that we never knew or hadn’t seen before … we give advice. Similarly, when actors, designers and assistants get together, they see things that hadn’t been noticed before, they talk about their preferences, they give recommendations, they are passionate and also contradictory … just like a family. That’s a theatre family. Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of presenting to the designers a run-through of the first section of the play. Our scene designer, assistant director, costume and sound designers, prop master, artistic director – almost everyone involved met to share their impressions. It went well and although we are in the first weeks of rehearsal and the text continues to change from day to day, the actors have been able to be almost completely off book, remembering their blocking … they really are all doing excellent work.

Right now, most of the big decisions are done, we have approved the scene design, the masks (Yes! There will be masks!), the costumes, sound, props are all in progress. It’s very exciting. The worlds of family and garden are taking shape. The story is forming and the actors are beginning to feel a part of something bigger than themselves. This is when the project is beginning to come together and everyone is starting to share the same vision. The characters, too, are beginning to have unique identities and live the dream of being. And so creation goes. And I, as creator, just have to give it as much life as I can, to guide it to be as much as it can. We’ll see how it goes. Even now, I can’t complain … I love to watch how it all comes together.
