Nelda Reyes (Directora), de México, es cofundador de Nuestro Canto (cuentos tradicionales de México). Ha sido actriz profesional por más de 10 años especializándose en teatro físico y expresiones culturales latinoamericanas y mexicanas. Tiene una maestría en artes teatrales de Portland State University y ha estudiado en el Moscow Art Theatre School en Harvard University, con Luis Tavira, y también con el Teatro Línea de Sombra de la ciudad de México. Además de su experiencia en la actuación y de su educación, ha estudiado idiomas, literatura, danza clásica y folklórica de diferentes culturas con particular atención en las danzas de España y el Caribe. Ha participado en varios proyectos de largo plazo en la Compañía de Teatro de la Universidad de Guadalajara y ayudado en la dirección de diversas obras teatrales y producciones de opera en México. En Portland a participado como artista, educadora de canto y teatro en varias producciones en PSU, Theatre! Theatre! y en el Miracle Theatre Group. Sus créditos de dirección incluyen: Duende para The Circus Project (2010); En Voz Alta: Voces Jóvenes por Justicia Social (Roosevelt High School-Milagro, 2010); Los Vendidos (Roosevelt High School-Milagro, 2009); y Dido & Eneas (Ministerio de Cultura de Zapopan, 2007). Nelda Reyes (Director), from Mexico, is co-founder of Nuestro Canto (traditional storytelling from Mexico). She has been a professional actress from the past 10 years and has specialized in physical theatre and in Latin American and Mexican cultural expressions. She holds a MA degree in Theatre Arts from Portland State University and also has studied in the Moscow Art Theatre School at Harvard University, with Luis de Tavira, and with Teatro Línea de Sombra in Mexico City. In addition to her acting experience and education, she has studied language, literature, and classical and folk dance from different cultures, specifically those of Spain and the Caribbean. She has been a performer in ongoing projects at the Company of Theatre of the University of Guadalajara, assisted in the direction of diverse theatrical and opera productions in Mexico and, while in Portland, she has participated in several productions at PSU, Theatre! Theater! and Miracle Theatre Group, both as a performer, singer and theatre educator. Her directing credits include: Duende for The Circus Project (2010) En Voz Alta: Voces Jovenes por Justicia Social (Roosevelt High School-Milagro, 2010), Los Vendidos (Roosevelt High School-Milagro, 2009) and Dido & Eneas (Ministerio de Cultura de Zapopan, 2007). Nelda thanks Miracle for this opportunity to work on her first mainstage theatre production.
Estela Robinson (Gerente de producción/Asistente de dirección) ha estado trabajando con el Milagro desde el otoño del 2010. Ha estado involucrada con el teatro desde el 3er grado y estudio actuación y dirección en Cornish y Vassar. Esta es la primera vez que trabajaba como asistente de dirección para la empresa y se siente honrada por esta oportunidad. Está emocionada de poder seguir aprendiendo y creciendo con el Miracle Theatre.
Estela Robinson (Production Manager/Assistant Director) has been working with the Miracle since fall 2010. She has been involved with theatre since the 3rd grade and attended Cornish and Vassar for acting and directing. This is her first time working as an assistant director for the company and is honored for the opportunity. She is excited to continue to learn and grow with the Miracle Theatre.
Sarah Lydecker (Escenógrafa), se graduó recientemente de Willamette University, donde recibió una licenciatura en teatro e historia del arte. Sarah Lydecker (Scenic Designer) recently graduated from Willamette University where she received a degree in theatre and art history. Recent credits include scenic design for Sardine Seller’s Net of Love (Willamette U.) and 99 Ways to F*** a Swan (Theatre Vertigo). Most recently at Miracle, Sarah was the prop master for Boleros for the Disenchanted. Outside of theatre, Sarah works as a painter and furniture re-finisher.
Kristeen Crosser (Diseñadora de iluminación) se siente muy entusiasmada de poder trabajar con el Milagro de nuevo. Recibió su licenciatura de Centre College en Danville, Kentucky, y recibió su maestría en diseño de iluminación de Wayne State University, en Detroit, MI. Anteriormente diseño la iluminación para las producciones ¡Viva la Revolución!, Mariela in the Desert, The Labyrinth of Desire, Te llevo en la sengre, How the García Girls Lost their Accents y Boomcracklefly para el Miracle Theatre. Además ha diseñado la iluminación para varias producciones de teatros locales entre ellos The Cherry Orchard para ART, Thief River para Profile Theatre y Pinocchio en el Northwest Children's Theatre. Kristeen Crosser (Lighting Designer) is very excited to be working with Miracle again. She received her BA from Centre College in Danville, KY and received her MFA in lighting design from Wayne State University, Hilberry Company in Detroit, MI. Previously she designed ¡Viva la Revolución!, Mariela in the Desert, The Labyrinth of Desire, Te llevo en la sengre, How the García Girls Lost their Accents and Boomcracklefly for Miracle. She has designed lighting for several area theatres including ART’s The Cherry Orchard, Profile’s Theatre’s Thief River and Northwest Children’s Theatre’s Pinocchio. She would like to thank her husband Mike for all of his love and support.
Gerardo Calderón (Diseñador de sonido), es el director musical del Grupo Cóndor y Canto Nuestro. Estudió guitarra clásica en la Escuela Superior de Música de la Ciudad de México y teoría de la música en Portland Community College. Como músico profesional, Gerardo ha buscado ejercer su conocimiento en la música mexicana, la música latina y música pre-colombiana tocando en grupos folklóricos en México, Canadá, noreste y el noroeste de los Estado Unidos. Gerardo también construye flautas panamericanas, palos de lluvia, “wáter drums,” “turtle boxes” y bombos. Su más reciente trabajo en el Miracle incluye las obras The Shrunken Head of Pancho Villa y ¡Viva la Revolución!.
Gerardo Calderón (Sound Designer), the Musical Director of Grupo Condor and Nuestro Canto, studied classical guitar at the Escuela Superior de Musica in Mexico City and music theory at the Portland Community College. As a professional musician, Gerardo has pursued traditional Mexican music, Latin American folk music and pre-Columbian music by performing with folk ensembles in Mexico, Canada, New England and the Pacific Northwest. Gerardo also makes custom panflutes, rain-sticks, water drums, turtle boxes and bombos. His recent work at Miracle includes The Shrunken Head of Pancho Villa and ¡Viva la Revolución!.
Valerie Ditchfield (Diseñadora de vestuario) ha estado diseñando y produciendo vestuarios principalmente para diferentes estudios de danza en el área metropolitana de Portland por los últimos 5 años. A Valerie también le gusta bailar y enseñar danza así como pasar tiempo con su familia. Esta es la segunda producción donde diseña vestuarios para el Miracle.
Valerie Ditchfield (Costume Designer) has been professionally designing and producing costumes for the past 5 years, mainly for various dance studios in the Portland metro area. Valerie also enjoys dancing and teaching dance, as well as spending time with her family. This will be Valerie’s 2nd production designing costumes with Miracle.
Alisha Flaumenbaum (Encargada de utilería) se siente enorgullecida por participar en su sexta producción en el Miracle! Anteriormente participo en Ardiente Paciencia, Rosalba y los Llaveros, Bodas de sangre, la producción del Día de los Muertos del año pasado. Alisha ha estado viviendo en (y esta enamorada de) Portland desde 2005, y está disfrutando de su quinta temporada como encargada de los accesorios del escenario en Portland Center Stage.
Alisha Flaumenbaum (Prop Master) is proud to endeavor on her sixth production with Miracle! Previous shows include Ardiente Paciencia, Rosalba y los Llaveros, Bodas de sangre, and last year's Dia de los Muertos. Alisha has been living in (and loving!) Portland since 2005, and is enjoying a fifth season in her position as Props Artisan at Portland Center Stage.
Kate B. Phoenix (Diseñadora de mascaras) es una diseñadora profesional de máscaras, actriz, y co-directora del conjunto teatral Wonderheads. A estado fabricando y actuando con mascaras por los últimos diez años y sus trabajos comisionados pueden ser vistos en escuelas y escenarios nacional e internacionalmente. Anteriormente, Kate diseño las mascaras para la producción de Miracle Lazarillo y esta encantada de formar parte de Jardín de Sueños.
Kate B. Phoenix (Mask Maker) is a professional mask designer, actor, and co-artistic director of physical theatre ensemble Wonderheads. She has been building and performing in masks for the past ten years and her sets and commissioned works are seen in schools and on stages both nationally and internationally. Kate previously designed masks for Miracle’s production of Lazarillo and is thrilled to be a part of Jardin de Sueños.
Nicki D'Amico (Regidora de escena) está muy agradecida por la oportunidad de trabajar en Jardín de Sueños. Creciendo a 20 minutos de Manhattan, se graduó de SUNY-Purchase habiendo estudiado teatro. Trabajo en teatros regionales en Nueva York, Connecticut y Massachusetts antes de pasar a pintar murales para varios clientes y después certificarse como masajista terapeuta de Kripalu. Ama a Portland y ha disfrutado mucho su actuación en improvisaciones y en monologos de comedia.
Nicki D’Amico (Stage Manager) is grateful for the opportunity to work on Jardín de Sueños. Growing up 20 minutes outside of Manhattan, she graduated from SUNY-Purchase having studied theatre. She worked for regional theaters in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts before transitioning to painting murals for private clients and then making the leap to become a Kripalu-certified massage therapist. She loves Portland and has most enjoyed performing improv and stand-up.
Emily Wright (Proyeccionista) se graduó de la Universidad de Wake Forest en mayo con una licenciatura en español. En busca de aventura y habiendo oído hablar del impresionante ambiente creativo, se mudó a Portland en septiembre. Desde entonces ha estado trabajando con la organización sin fines de lucro Art4life. Aparte de trabajar con el Miracle Theatre, hace trabajo voluntario con el Oregón Ballet Theatre y con Portland Center Stage. Ha sido amante de las artes visuales y escénicas desde temprana edad.
Emily Wright (Projectionist) graduated from Wake Forest University last May with a BA in Spanish. Looking for adventure and having heard about the awesome creative environment, she moved to Portland in September, and has since been working with the nonprofit Art4life. As well as working with Milagro theatre, she volunteers with Oregon Ballet Theatre and Portland Center Stage. From a young age, she has been a lover of the arts, both visual and performing.
Wailana Kalama (Operadora de los sonidos) ha estado viviendo en el Noroeste durante cinco años. Le encanta Portland como si fuese su segundo hogar. Recibió su licenciatura en Literatura Comparada e Historia de las Ideas en Willamette University mientras seguía ejerciendo y recogiendo habilidades en su pasión como técnica del escenario. Wailana Kalama (Sound Board Operator) has been in the Northwest for five years and loves Portland like a second home. At Willamette University she earned a B.A. in Comparative Literature and History of Ideas, while picking up skills in her side dish passion of stage tech. She is thrilled to be working with Milagro again.
