Congratulations Artists!

¡Felicidades!  Congratulations to Pepe Moscoso, Jesus Kobe Garcia and Hampton Rodriguez, visual artists whose work has been chosen by RACC to be shown in the Portable Works collection for the City of Portland and Multnomah County! 

Strongly interested in expanding the diversity of its collection, RACC asked Miracle Theatre to help distribute the call for submissions among Latino artists.  As well as sharing the word to all the visual artists on the LAX/IdeAL lists via email, we invited Keith Lachowicz, RACC's Public Arts Collections Manager to make a presentation at the November LAX/IdeAL meeting.  

Ever since the first big gathering last February, 2011, Miracle has hosted monthly LAX/IdeAL meetings that have included professional development training sessions, including how to create a watermark to protect images uploaded to the web, how to create performer resumés, how to upload videos, and, with Helen Daltoso of RACC, a workshop on applying for individual artists grants.

Keith graciously joined us, explained the program, the submission and selection process, and how the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) seeks to include culture and arts of all facets of the community. RACC has served Portland and the tri-met area since its launch in 1995.

In attendance at the November meeting, Pepe Moscoso submitted his work for consideration, as did Jesus Kobe Garcia, and Hampton Rodriguez who received word via email!  We're thrilled that their works have been selected for this award.  For a short period of time, before they are placed in County and City public spaces, several of the newly aquired artworks will be on display at the RACC office, 411 NW Park Avenue, Suite 101, in Portland, from April 5th to May 4th, 2012.  Images of all the selected artworks are also visible here.

With the support of Oregon Arts Commission, MCCC and Oregon Community Foundation, Miracle is thrilled to offer a home for LAX and provide a gateway of opportunity for local Latino artists. This is a great opportunity for artists to network and get their names and work out there!
