Meet the production team behind "Oedipus el Rey"

Elizabeth Huffman (Director/Costume Designer) is thrilled to be directing for the first time with Miracle Theatre Group. Her most recent directing projects were King John for Northwest Classical Theatre Company, Oedipus the King and Trojan Women for Classic Greek Theatre of Oregon, and her next directing project is David Mamet’s play November for the JANE Theatre Company, opening June 21, 2012 at Theatre/Theatre. Elizabeth will also be performing in her new one woman show: You Belong to Me by Steven Wolfson, as part of the 1 Festival on June 1 & 2, 2012 at Headwaters Theatre. José E. González (Scenic Designer) began his professional career with the Portland Civic Theatre in 1975. He received his BA from the University of Santa Clara and MFA in Scenic Design from UCLA. For five years he was the resident designer and technical director for the Harbor Playhouse in Corpus Christi, Texas. González is co-founder and Executive Director of Miracle Theatre Group, where most recently he appeared as Pedro in The Shrunken Head of Pancho Via and designed the scenery for Lazarillo.


Kristeen Crosser (Lighting Designer) She received her BA from Centre College in Danville, KY and received her MFA in lighting design from Wayne State University, Hilberry Company in Detroit, MI. Most recently at Milagro, she designed Jardín de Sueños and ¡Viva la Revolución! She would like to thank her husband Mike for all of his love and support. 


Sharath Patel (Sound Designer) has worked on productions of Angels in America, Brother Sister Plays, and The Scene at Portland Playhouse, Kiss me Like You Mean It at Third Rail Repertory, Macbeth at Bag & Baggage, King John at Northwest Classical Theatre Co., and many others. Sharath holds a BFA from Ohio University and he earned his MFA in Sound Design from the Yale School of Drama. He is the 2010 recipient of an Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Performance Art Production. 


Kenichi Hillis (Prop Master) is a props designer who is originally from San Diego and holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Humboldt State University.  He is a proud member of the Northwest Classical Theatre Company, where he serves as the company Prop Master, designing props for most of the mainstage productions, including The Merchant of Venice, Richard II, Dracula and King John. He sends his love and appreciation to his wife, Sarah, and their son Russell.


Valerie Ditchfield (Costume Assistant) has been professionally designing and producing costumes for the past six years, mainly for various dance studios in the Portland metro area, for which she has won “Best Costume Award” for various competitions for the past two years. Valerie also enjoys dancing and teaching dance, as well as spending time with her family.  This will be Valerie’s 3rd production with Miracle, having most recently designed costumes for Jardín de Sueños.


Kristen Mun (Fight Choreographer) is a recognized Associate Instructor thru Dueling Arts International. She has worked as the Assistant Fight Director at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and has taught, assisted, and fight directed at a variety of educational venues, including Southern Oregon University, University of Idaho, and several high schools in Oregon and California. Recent work includes Hamlet and King John at Northwest Classical Theatre Company among others.  Kristen received her BFA in Theatre Arts from Southern Oregon University. 


Mark Loring (Scenic Painter) has been Technical Director and Design Associate at the Eureka Theatre in San Francisco as well as Production Manager and Resident Designer at Theatrical Outfit in Atlanta.  He has spattered paint on most of “the boards” (and some of the drapery) in Portland.  Mark has also taught technical theatre to students from grade school through college, and he has built and painted scenery for dozens of film and television productions. He is happy to be back for his 19th or 20th production with Miracle.


Caitlin Nolan (Stage Manager) is delighted to be participating in her second production with Miracle. She wishes to thank the cast, designers and production team for all of their marvelous work.
