Mouth-watering anticipation for ¡Viva Milagro!

¡Viva Milagro! is just around the corner! 

A special night that many in our Milagro family look forward to as an indispensable part of the holiday season, full of traditional Mexican arts and culture, delicious food and merriment, live music, a silent auction featuring the stunning creations of talented visual artists from Mexico and Portland, and a chance to mingle with Milagro’s staff, its Board of Directors, fellow audience members, family and friends. 

This year, Mayahuel Catering has planned a very special Día de Muertos menu; the dishes have been inspired by a different tradition surrounding Day of the Dead. 

MENU

First Course: Ensalada de Campo Santo:

 Cemetery salad of mixed greens, flowers and berries with an aromatic hoja santa vinaigrette.

Second Course: Tamal de Novenario: 

The classic Mexican treat, Oaxaca-style and stuffed with shrimp, with a chile ancho seasoning sauce, is traditionally served during the novenario, a nine-day period of prayer and vigil for the recently departed complete with food and drink.

and Tamal de Muerto:

"Dead Man’s tamal with chile ancho, chile verde and cheese.

Third Course: Mole Verde de Puebla con Carnitas: 

Tender pork in Puebla-style green mole (pumpkin-seed sauce).

  

Fourth Course: Cuachala de Calabacitas:

A traditional squash-based stew served in the fall in Jalisco and the surrounding region.

Dessert: Capirotada con salsa de guayaba:

Mexican-style bread pudding with guava sauce.

Drinks: Aguas de tamarindo & Jamaica:

Delicious water-based drinks made with tamarind pulp and hibiscus blooms.
