Leer es Poder! A great literary adventure begins this week!

Teatro Milagro's new residency production Aventuras de Don Quixote premieres this week! This new bilingual play follows the adventures of a young girl, Maria, who doesn't like to read but whose curiosity draws her into the literary world of Don Quixote. Meanwhile Don Quixote, in this case, is an overly imaginative gentleman whose good intentions and mountains of books are driving his roommate into a frenzy! Children and adults alike will be pulled into this fun and exciting interactive drama inspired by the famous  novel by Cervantes.

Part of our larger “Adventures” program, Aventuras de Don Quixote can also encompass engaging arts activities that reinforce the play's theme of literacy for young children. This program is supported by grant funding in an effort to create an affordable opportunity for educational institutions, libraries, and community centers.

The performance of Aventuras de Don Quixote is a half-hour, 4-person show that can be presented in any space with a clear floor with the option to add-on workshops tailored to the needs of libraries, educational institutions and or community centers. By the end of the performance, audience members and little skeptics like Maria will be championing Don Quixote’s cause — ¡Leer es Poder! Reading is Power!
