Edwin Alvelo

EDWIN ALVELO  began dancing in 1987 in Philadelphia PA, where he studied dance with Roni Koreesh and Sandy Summers. In 1989 he moved to Portland and began performing as a member of the Urban Dance Ensemble 1992-1994 under the artistic direction of Bobby Fouther. From 1995-2001 he danced and performed in several productions as a member of the Really BIG Dance Company. Edwin is a former member of Milagro Bailadores and worked as a performer/cheoreographer in Balie Romatico spring of 2000 and Noches De Cuba spring of 2001. Edwin was an avid motorcyclist until February of 2009 when he suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision with a car while approaching the Steel Bridge. Determined to recover, he spent many months in physical therapy and worked tenaciously to rebuild and restore his self and life passions. Edwin is excited to be returning to the stage once again and performing for you at Mila

PATRICIA ALVITEZ  was born in Peru where she studied ballet at the Nacional ballet of Perú and acting at La Asociación de Artistas Aficionados A.A.A. She moved to the United States in the late 80s and joined The Peninsula Ballet Theatre in the Bay Area, San Francisco. Patricia has been dancing Ballroom since 2008 and has competed in various ballroom competitions in Portland, Seattle and Los Angeles.  She is also a member of edgeSports Formation team dance.  She has done commercial work for Univision and performed in the musical Grand Hotel with the Lakewood Theatre Company last February.  Although Patricia ha taken part in small projects at Milagro, she is thrilled and thankful to  Olga and Lakin for the opportunity to work with such talented actors. A special thanks to Lakin for being such a big inspiration not only as an artist but as a human being.

Enrique E. Andrade

ENRIQUE E. ANDRADE, originally from Mexico City, is a graduate of the University of Oregon. Enrique has performed in numerous Miracle Theater productions since 2008, including in 2012 Oedipus el Rey, winner of 6 Drammys, and RAIZ.   He performed in Astor Piazzolla’s Maria de Buenos Aires at the Aspen Festival of Music in 2005 and 2007 as well as with 3rd Angle Music Ensemble, and in 2013 with the Lexington Philharmonic in Kentucky.  Enrique's Television credits include TNT’s Leverage season 4 as Professor Humberto Garcia as well as NBC's GRIMM. Enrique is well known for being the Spanish voice of the MAX, as well as various TV/radio/internet commercials in both English and Spanish and also as a  story teller at Portland Story Theater.     

Tricia Castañeda-Gonzales

TRICIA CASTAÑEDA-GONZALES is ecstatic to be involved in her first main stage production! Other Milagro credits include the touring productions of Frida, un retablo, Aventuras de Don Quixote and B’aktun 13. Additionally, favorite acting credits include Celia, in As You Like It, with Willamette Shakespeare, Maria, in Back Bog Beast Bait, with defunkt theatre and C, in Crave, at  Linfield College, where she received her B.A. in Theatre Arts. Behind the scenes credits include the Milagro Theatre, Badass Theatre Company, CoHo and Portland Playhouse. If she isn’t on stage, you may find her building a set, stage managing a production or simply wrangling props and actors. A special thanks goes out to her Corrido Calavera castmates and El Grandireskeleto Lakin for the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented group of artists. Mariah Leewright

MARIAH LEEWRIGHT is elated to make their debut with Milagro. Favorite credits include The Second God in The Good Person of Setzuan (PSU), Joanne Jefferson in RENT (MHCC) and Pa Ubu in Ubu the King (Perpich Ctr for Arts Edu). Mariah is a Liberal Studies major at PSU with a focus in theatre and social justice





 

Daniel Moreno

DANIEL MORENO has been acting in and around the Portland area since 2006. He is happy to be returning to the Miracle Mainstage for this year’s Dia de los Muertos production of Corrido Calavera. He has been performing in Milagro productions for several years, including The Shrunken Head of Pancho Villa and several past Día de los Muertos festivals: La Carpa Calavera, La Carpa del Ausente and La Carpa del Maestro. He has also been involved in Teatro Milagro’s touring productions for the last 4 years, productions included El Último, American Sueño, Duende de Lorca, B'aktun 13 and most recently Frida! un retablo. Additionally he works as a production assistant, house manager, volunteer coordinator and in the Box Office for Miracle Theatre. This summer he was seen in Clackamas Repertory Theatre's summer musical  production of Kiss Me Kate. His past performances with CRT include Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma! and Cabaret. You may have also seen him clowning around as part of the Portland Rose Festival Amtrak Character Clown Corp for the past several years.

Sarah Peters

SARAH PETERS is an actor, singer and violinist. In Portland she has performed with Post5 Theatre, AnonIt Moves, OPS Fest, Miracle Theatre, Living Stages, and Tightrope Theatre, and sings with the band Airport. She has also performed with Bond Street Theater (New York), traveled across the US with the One Second Film, and toured with Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre Program in Los Angeles. Sarah is a graduate of the MFA program at Dell'Arte International.

Mariel Sierra

MARIEL SIERRA is honored to be making her debut with Corrido Calavera! A recent graduate of the Portland Actors Conservatory, Mariel was a founding company member of Post5 Theatre, and engaged in many roles from from marketing to working as Production Manager for the inaugural production of Romeo & Juliet. Recent credits include A Bright Room Called Day (Zillah), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (Player King) at the Portland Actors Conservatory, and HumanBeingCurious’s Antony and Cleopatra (Alexas/Octavia). You can also catch Mariel in several sketches of Potty Talk Series 2. She will be participating in all three productions of Teatro Milagro’s 2013-2014 tour as an actor, teaching artist, and marketing assistant. Endless gratitude to Lakin and Olga for trusting me with this opportunity, and to all of my past and current mentors. This show is dedicated to the memory of my father, Ruben Sierra. Everything I do is for you.

Nelda Reyes

Nelda Reyeswas born in Mexico and is co-founder of Nuestro Canto (traditional storytelling from Mexico). Over her professional career as a performer she has specialized in physical theatre and in Latin American and Mexican cultural expressions. While in Oregon, she has participated as a music and theatre performer and arts educator for diverse community and arts organizations. Her recent theatre credits include: Entre villa y una Mujer Desnuda  (Andrea), Jardín de Sueños  (Director), Viva la Revolucion (Nadjwa) at Milagro, A break in the Clouds at Valley Repertory Theater and Dance for a Dollar at Milagro (Gloria). Nelda is thankful for the opportunity to participate in this, her fifth show honoring the Day of the Dead tradition at Milagro.
