One of the most anticipated events is the Sep. 15 concert by local virtuoso, Gerardo Calderón of Grupo Condor, which also marks the release of his new CD, Somtir.
Somtir means rhythm, and Calderón's new musical compositions will take us around the world through a combination of Latin American, African and indigenous rhythms and sounds. This concert will include dances from Argentina, Peru, Mexico and Spain, and will move your body with rhythms meditational to upbeat!
For a glimpse (and sneak listen!) of the beloved local musician in performance, check out this video recorded at a rehearsal in the Milagro Theatre, accompanied by Samuel Becerra, a musician and ceramicist who will not only perform with Calderón, but will also display his works of pre-Columbian style pottery and instruments, alongside Paco Padilla's contemporary and traditional clay pieces.
Buy your tickets today, and make sure to be one of the lucky first 20 audience members to receive a free copy of Gerardo's new album!
